Following her partnership with Tom Jans, Mimi left the for-profit music business and founded Bread and Roses, an organization that provides live music and other entertainment for those who are confined to institutions, such as hospitals and prisons. She also organized all-star benefit concerts to raise money for the organization, and released albums of the concerts. Unfortunately, Mimi didn't perform on this album, as she was presumably busy organizing the event (although she probably joined in on the finale). But since Bread & Roses was her life's work, I thought it would be appropriate to include these albums here. She does make the announcements at the beginning of the album and also introduces Toni Brown and Terry Garthwaite, a duo she seems to have discovered. And there are quite a few pictures of Mimi too, as well as the other performers. NOTE: The CD re-issue added Vol. 1 to the title (although to the best of my knowledge, the second Bread and Roses album was never re-issued on CD). This CD omitted two tracks to fit the double album onto one disk. The omitted tracks are "General Guinness/Irish Reel" by Boys of the Lough, and "Mabel Joy" by Mick Newbury. Many of the photos were also omitted.
